Steamboat Triathlon Changes Hands

After two very successful seasons the Steamboat Triathlon has handed the reigns over to Without Limits Productions. The move takes place as the original creators of the Steamboat Triathlon sought to take the event to the next level, a one of a kind destination event. Without Limits Productions, Colorado’s largest multi-sport event company and founders of the Colorado Triathlon Tour, were the perfect match! To Without Limits the most important component of this event moving forward is community involvement and a lasting benefit to the surrounding businesses. “Steamboat has such a supportive and thriving community that our goal is for the citizens, business owners, and designated charity to feel that this is truly “their event” and take credit for its success. The Steamboat Triathlon wouldn’t be what it is today without their committed involvement” – Lance Panigutti, co-owner Without Limits Productions. In 2011 participants can expect the same gorgeous venue and intimate race environment, but with slightly longer distances. The current course of a 3/4m Swim, 22m Bike, and 4m Run, has been expanded to become a true Olympic Distance Event (1.5k Swim, 24.8m Bike, 6.2m Run).

To help local and front range athletes prepare a new event has been established for July 24^th just 20 miles north of Lake Catamount, the Steamboat Lake Sprint Triathlon. This new event, featuring a 1/2m Swim, 12.4m Bike, and 3.1m Run, has breathtaking scenery in its own right, is very beginner friendly, and offers the perfect excuse for non local athletes to get away during the hot summer month of July!

The 2011 Olympic Distance Event will take place on August 28^th, just one day after the Quiznos Pro Challenge departs on Stage 5 from downtown Steamboat, ensuring an action packed weekend of cycling and triathlon for all! Athletes and families arriving on Friday will be able to spectate the downtown finish of the Quiznos Pro Challenge Stage 4 (Avon to Steamboat), a truly once in a lifetime opportunity!

‘A New Direction’

Time Out! Productions Welcomes Without Limits Productions

(Plymouth, Massachusetts…February 04, 2011) On February 04, 2011, in an arrangement between Time Out! Productions of Plymouth, Massachusetts and Without Limits Productions LLC of Denver, Colorado, the ownership/ directorship of the New England Triathlon Tour changed hands effective for the 2011 racing season, which will mark the Tour’s 27^thcampaign. Time Out! Productions President Rich Havens has presided over each Triathlon Tour race since the series program was established in 1985. Ironically, Without Limits principals Tony and Lance Panigutti began competing in triathlon in 1996, making frequent pilgrimages from their Connecticut home northward to most of the Tour’s events conducted on Cape Cod and in Vermont, New Hampshire and south-central Massachusetts.

The 2011 New England Triathlon Tour will offer its usual complement of popular races on Cape Cod:

· June 11: Hyannis Sprint 1 Triathlon at Craigville Beach (swim ¼-mi; bike 10-mi; run 3.5-mi)

· July 17: Falmouth Sprint Triathlon at Surf Drive Beach (swim 1/3-mi; bike 9-mi; run 3.1-mi)

· Sept 10: Hyannis Sprint 2 Triathlon at Craigville Beach (swim ¼-mi; bike 10-mi; run 3.5-mi)

Havens expresses, “To say that my 26 years directing triathlons since 1985 has been ‘life changing’ would greatly understate truth. Knowing that our races have contributed to shape the sport and have given so many people opportunities to challenge themselves physically delights me. During June of last year, the energetic and ambitious Panigutti brothers stepped forward and presented me with an offer to catapult the Triathlon Tour to a new and exciting level for our triathletes and our host race communities. Their new leadership will allow me to steer my Time Out! Productions company, similarly, in a new and exciting direction”.

Anticipating Without Limits first season managing the popular Triathlon Tour, Tony Panigutti indicated, “To us Time Out! Productions holds such a special place in our development as triathletes, individuals, and business men that can never be replaced. Those summer days racing all over New England is where it all began for us and without those experiences we never would be the triathletes and race directors we are today. To acquire Time Out!’s New England Triathlon Tour is much more than a dream; it’s a passing of the torch. We hope to inspire the future generations of triathletes and race directors in the same manner that Rich brought out the best in us.

N.E. Tri Tour: A New Direction

As with any passing of the torch the goal is to build upon the past. Rich has done an incredibly remarkable job over the years that if nothing changed from 2010 the races would continue to be among the best events worldwide and excel in every way. However, our goal is to add a bit of innovation and cosmetic e-enhancements for 2011. We hope to tie in some of our long standing partnerships to the New England market and be able give the athlete even more of what they love; more goodies, more raffles, and more fun! Beyond 2012 the sky is the limit. I think we can all agree that the New England Triathlon Tour has some old time favorite venues that we personally would love to see return; stay tuned, and we’ll see you at the beach in 2011!”

The New England Triathlon Tour’s roots were established in 1985 by current B.A.A. Boston Marathon Race Director Dave McGillivray, whose vision for the sport in the New England region resulted from his participation in the renown ‘Ironman Triathlon’ staged in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. McGillivray and his special event company ‘DMSE’ presented one ‘International-distance’ race in each of the six New England states at a time when triathlon was considered to be ‘the sport of the ‘80s’. McGillivray hired Havens, previously an executive for the Dunfey Hotel group, to serve as Executive Director for the program then entitled the New England Triathlon Series (NETS). Through the years, NETS flourished with the natural growth of multi-sport and in great part due to the timely sponsorship support of the New England Toyota Dealers in conjunction with the Sports Museum of New England. In 1993, Havens ambition to strike out on his own lead him to the creation of his own special event company, Time Out! Productions. During 1996, Havens and McGillivray reached an agreement whereby Time Out! assumed ownership and directorship of the series and whereupon the New England Triathlon Tour label came to be. The Tour in addition to its long-time races on Cape Cod included the Martha’s Vineyard Triathlon Festival, New England Triathlon Festival-Sunapee (NH), Fairlee Great Triathlon (Fairlee, VT) and the Massachusetts Triathlon (Sharon, MA).

Since 1993, Time Out! Productions continued its work with the Triathlon Tour and added other events to its resume in either ownership or consulting capacities…the likes of the B.A.A. Boston Marathon (Finish Area Coordinator); Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship (Sponsor Signage Coordinator); Best Buddies Hyannisport Challenge (Course Logistics Coordinator); Reach The Beach Relay-New Hampshire and Massachusetts (Start & Finish Line Management); We Gather Together 5K (Director). Havens currently is constructing the New England Bike Tours, a cycling vacation concept with a hopeful launch in 2012.

In 2007, the Paniguttis elected to depart from their respective planned career paths and instead assumed ‘risk and adventure’ by opening their own special event management company, Without Limits Productions. In 2008 their aim was to start small with three triathlons which would parallel Time Out! Productions’ mission of presenting value with a ‘laid back’ feel. That mission ‘caught fire’ as three triathlons soon snowballed to a dozen events by 2009 then 24 in 2010; wherein each triathlon sold out. Their Colorado collection of events include the Summer Open Sprint Triathlon, Outdoor Divas Sprint Triathlon, XTERRA Lory Triathlon, Harvest Moon Half, Oktoberfest Sprint, America’s Cup USAT Aquathon Nationals, Aquaman Series, Dash ‘n Dine 5K Series and Colorado ‘Cyclo X’ Cross Cup.

So I'm not exactly sure if we just wrapped up our 2010 season, or just kicked off 2011, but either way cheers to an amazing 24 memories of last season and here's to 38 more to come in 2011! CYCLO X Refrigerated had it all this year; wind, sun, more wind, mud, snow, and lots of sand. The 129 rider who raced showed that true Colorado spirit and all had a blast. We got some great press on 303 Cycling and Mountain Flyer Magazine! Stay tuned for some exciting announcements in the coming weeks concerning 2011!

So what happens when it's Fri at 6pm, 130 of your race awards are lost in Georgia somewhere, and your race is Sunday morning? We'll there's a lot of praying, hoping, and yelling that goes on! Let's just say UPS Freight and I were not on good terms Fri night. A big thank you to Maria Hennessey and Barefoot Winery for coming through with 130 bottles of wine as back ups awards. It was very fitting that after printing and sticking custom labels on each bottle that somehow, someway, I get a call the next day that the awards will arrive in 2hrs. Not sure if it was the praying or yelling, but they made it! And now we have 130 bottles of wine to ease the pain of stress of the last 72 for Without Limits. The 11th Annual HARVEST MOON Long Course Festival turned out to be an amazing day! Thank you to all the volunteers, athletes, and Without Limits Partner for your support!

Now that's one for the record books! According to our timing crew tonight was the wettest and coldest Dash & Dine in history. However, the Boulder community came out in force, charging through the freezing rain and muddy conditions, then grabbing that burger to go. We are thrilled to announce that the SheROX Triathlon Series is coming to Aurora! The SheROX Aurora Triathlon will take place on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 7 AM in Aurora, CO. The race will consist of an .8K (.5 mile) swim, 16K (10 mile) bike, and a 5K (3.1 mile) run. Online registration is now open at www.sheroxtri.com.

THE SHEROX MENTOR PROGRAM
The incredibly popular SheROX Mentor Program is back by popular demand! If you've never done a triathlon, but have thought about it, this is the race and the program for you. Once again led by Head Mentor Andie Bernard, the SheROX Mentor Program will help guide you to your triathlon goal! We'll provide you with a Mentor who will provide support and information to make your experience a safe, fun and memorable one! Even if you've done other triathlons, our helpful, experienced Mentors will answer your questions and provide guidance to help you enjoy race day. Your Mentor will be available to answer your questions via e-mail and will proactively send you regular tips and suggestions to address your training and racing needs. You'll receive periodic e-newsletters packed with information and invitations to group workouts, swim, bike and run clinics, informational meetings and/or social get-togethers. Your Mentor is there to listen to you and to help you feel comfortable about preparing for the event.

TRAINING PLANS
Whether your goal is to improve your performance, win your age group or simply finish, we've got a training plan for you. You can choose a beginner, intermediate or advanced plan, depending upon your objectives, fitness level and experience. Training plans will begin 12 to 16 weeks before your race. RELAY TEAMS
If you're not ready to do the whole race by yourself, participate as part of a relay team! Recruit one or two friends, co-workers or family members to participate in those parts of the race that you'd rather not do. Relay teams consist of two or three members. Form mother/daughter teams, teams with members of your book club, your old college roommates or other women you work with, or come up with your own team theme!

BUDDY WAVE

If you want to complete the event with a friend or family member who may not be in your age group, you can! If you want to do the race with your mom, daughter, older or younger friend, sign up for the Buddy Wave. Buddy Wave participants are not eligible for age-group awards.

SURVIVOR WAVE

We want to recognize those of you who have taken on and conquered challenges in your life much more difficult than training for a triathlon. We have created a Survivor Wave that will enable you to race with others who have survived cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

XTERRA Lory to be a 1-Loop Bike Course!

We just had our spring meeting with the Ranger Staff at Lory State Park and we're proud to announce a new 1-loop bike course. In 2009 we had a fast, fun, and rolling 2-loop course, however, there was some congestion out on the single-track for the 2nd lap. Our main goal for 2010 was to maintain the small race cap, but explore some new trail options to eliminate the 2nd lap. The 2010 edition will be slightly more challenging as we incorporate the uphill section of the run course into the new bike course for a 10.4 mile loop!

CYCLO X Boulder 2010 and NEW 2011 Race!

Cyclocross in Colorado over the past 3 years has exploded in popularity. Road cyclists love the variety, triathletes are filling the off-season void, and mountain bikers get to extend their Summer season. With the 2013 UCI World Cyclocross Championships being held in Kentucky the popularity of the sport could truly be Without Limits! In 2008 we saw 600 people at some Colorado events and in 2009 the growth continued throughout the wet and muddy fall. Our goal for 2010 was an early Oct. date, but November 21st comes with ample benefits; cool temps, 2 weeks before the state championship, right before Thanksgiving, plus more time to build even better features into the land! So what does the future hold? With the popularity of cyclocross going mainstream the public is demanding creative courses and a longer season. The Without Limits crew is ready to meet that demand by adding a January 22nd date in 2011. If the Euros can keep racing in the freezing rain of Belgium then so can the hardcore Coloradans! Stay tuned for more Cyclocross news later in the Summer!

After a 2 year absence, Boulder’s favorite Spring training series returns! Former Race Director Greg Cunningham created one of the best Tuesday night series around, and Without Limits Productions is very proud to bring back the legacy. The DASH & DINE centers on a laid back friends and family atmosphere. Each race takes place at Coot Lake out by Boulder Reservoir at 6:30pm. Runners test their mettle out on the course, and when they sprint across the finish line they make their way across the street to Tom Watson Park for a post-race cookout featuring healthy and delicious fare! What better way to finish off the night than a bar-b-que with your fellow athletes while awards are presented!

The Without Limits Staff couldn’t be more excited that Greg has entrusted the tradition and future of this series to Without Limits. Rest assured that all the favorite aspects of the series will be kept intact, but expect Without Limits to build upon the races reputable legacy with some of the additions and twists that have made WLP famous! The Wounded Warrior Project will serve as the charity with $1 of each athlete’s entrant going to this needed cause. And because WLP respects your wallet, race day registration will remain at the 2007 price of just $20.

It was a cold one! Thanks to all the participants and volunteers who came out and made this a great event. The race results are in! Click on Home -> CycloCross to see race results. We had 94 die hard cross riders brave the sub arctic conditions! You can be rest assured that come 2010 CycloX will be back with some more course improvements, plus the pint glasses, t-shirts, free food (Evol Burritos), and free beer (Upslope Brewing) that made 2009 one for the books. It seemed like everyone loved the chip timing as we were able to give out some really cool primes for the fastest lap, plus athletes for the first time could compare lap splits and times to other categories. Thank you to Racing Underground for providing the best chip timing around!

We Beat SPIDIE Last Night!

For all you Entourage fans you know exactly what this means. AQUAMAN took down the record holder Spiderman 2 last night. You couldn't have asked for better weather. The skies were menacing right up until 5:45 when warm-ups start, which was great to keep the boats and jet skiers away. Only problem was it kept a lot of the pre-registered athletes at home as well. Overall though we had 30+ same day sign-ups, bringing the total registered for the night to 130! The water was nice and calm, CWW had great attendance, and the vendors Bear Naked, Clif, XOOD, MIX 1, and Jimmy Johns were cleaned out of product by our athletes. By far the best part of the whole day was when I went to pick up our rental fishing boat. Nothing fancy mind you. We're talking about a flat bottom dingy with a lawnmower size engine. Trouble was it wasn't anywhere to be found at the Marina. Not to panic! The head manager had an easy solution that worked out for everyone. PARTY BOAT, Spring Break style with bench seats, 2 large pontoons, and nice canopy to keep the rain showers away! It's going to be a hard one to beat, but with one more week to go I know we can pull off something better for our last one Aug 4th!
